HP Mini 5102 Review Intel Atom N450 Netbook

HP Mini 5102 is the new intel Atom N450 netbook that designed to be an all-around mobile PC. To make up for that, HP 5102 is powered by a single core 1.66GHz atom processor, Mobile Intel NM10 chipset and Intel GMA 3150 graphic processor. The Mini 5102’s packages also includes a 1GB 800MHz DDR2 Memory, 160 GB harddrive, and Windows 7 Starter Edition.
HP 5102’s exterior design were pretty good, its body is made of magnesium alloy and aluminium, giving a sturdy feel to it, a really good choice for netbook users who hates netbook’s plastic body. 5102 size were pretty proportional too, its definitely not the thinnest netbook around, but its dimension (10.3 x 7.1 inches) didn’t made the flexibility and mobility aspect of this netbook go away. In fact, weighing 2.5 pound or 3.3 pound when you count the AC adapter weight, this HP Mini netbook would give a solid and durable one when you bring it with you.

I must say that 5102’s keyboard and control design were pretty good. Using a nice pebble style and giving a more attention to some functional keys like Shifts really made me enjoy typing on this netbook. Mini 5102’s touch pad design still adapt the traditional ones, with the buttons below the touch pad though I have no problem with that.
This HP netbook screen features a 1024×600 resolution. It’s not a HD resolution, but I hope HP will release one that would have 1366×768 HD resolusion like HP Mini 311.
To conclude our HP Mini 5102 review, this netbook can compete fairly with Toshiba Mini NB305-N410BN that uses the same N450 processors, eventhough compared too Asus 1005PE, the Mini 5102 still lose in the battery lifetime and iTunes encoding test. But still, with 5102 priced on $399, it is one of the best buy netbooks around I think ![]()
