Browsing The Internet Using Cellphone? Opera Mini Gained 30 Million User

September 25th, 2009

When I first bough my current cellphone, the Sony Ericsson W800 4 years ago, I thought that finally I can get my hands on the internet enabled phone even though it was only in a WAP Browser. Unfortunately, at that time, the rate per kilobyte was a little too expensive and not worthy enough with the information I got. So I buried my excitement to browse the internet through my cellphone.

2 years passed, the rate of data communitation in my celluler provider have been decrease, but still, there is not much I can do with a wap browser, so I still don’t use my cellphone to connect to the internet. Until my friend introduced me into Opera Mini java application. You can download the program here, transfer it into your phone, install and voila, welcome to the world wide web through your phone screen. I still enjoy reading my favorite web using Opera Mini even though it’s already the BlackBerry Era right now :D

As long as your cellphone support Java, then you can use Opera Mini in your mobile phone to connect to the internet, updating your Faceboook status, read emails or the news site. Yeah, this mini apps really do the work, not only they can read HTML web page, they compressed it to decrease the data needed to view a web page. And now, Opera Mini users have grown into 30 million users. Well, maybe it’s not as much as Facebook users that claimed to be 300 million users. But that’s already an achievement for me. Thank you Opera Mini, keep growing, keep improving.
